Return to Lima

After a few beers over lunch, the afternoon was a bleary haze of semi sleep interrupted by blaring horns, speed bumps and congested traffic on the bus ride back to Lima.
Alvaro to us out to the the best sandwich bar in Lima then back to the hotel for a drink before bed.
Wednesday was a free day and after being disappointed by the local market, we decided to head into the Lima city centre on a local bus. Lima is a huge city of tolerated chaos. The city centre is interesting in its Spanish colonial architecture, but it's not the most inviting place. We checked out the cathedral and the adjacent museum in the Plac de Armes then met up for a coffee before taking on the local bus back to Miraflores. Interesting bus ride with a packed bus and a local crazy guy providing entertainment. The girl seated next to me was providing running commentary but, unfortunately, it was all in Spanish despite my insistance that I had no idea what she was talking about.
We finished up the evening at Cafe Columbia after wandering the back streets of Miraflores.
